Payroll Accountant

Job Description

We're looking for a detail-driven Payroll & Accounting Specialist to support payroll operations and core accounting activities. This role handles multi-state payroll, assists with financial processes, and partners closely with HR and leadership to ensure accuracy, compliance, and smooth day-to-day operations.

Responsibilities

  • Process bi-weekly, off-cycle, and monthly payroll for U.S. and international employees

  • Review timecards, resolve discrepancies, and support system updates

  • Maintain compliance with payroll regulations across multiple states

  • Perform payroll audits, reconcile reports, and address complex issues

  • Track leaves of absence and related benefit activity

  • Maintain payroll records and respond to employee inquiries

  • Process manual checks and assist with incentive/bonus calculations

  • Support accounting with G/L reconciliations, journal entry preparation, and reporting

  • Track sales tax exemption documentation in Avalara

  • Collaborate with HR, managers, and accounting teams on ongoing needs

  • Contribute to additional projects and responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in Accounting, Business, or related field

  • 5+ years of payroll experience, including multi-state; manufacturing a plus

  • Experience with Paylocity and strong Excel skills

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics or similar accounting software

  • Strong understanding of payroll regulations and best practices

  • High attention to detail and ability to manage confidential information

  • Effective communication and organizational skills
